Upholstery

When purchasing a couch or chair with fabric upholstery, you want to pay attention to how it is constructed.  Construction makes all of the difference in longevity and comfort.  Most of our upholstery brands utilize eight-way hand-tied springs.  This allows a wider range of movement for the sitter and leads to greater durability for the piece.  And because this process requires a master craftsman to hand-tie the springs, greater attention is paid toward quality.

Just like casegoods, the frame of the upholstered piece needs to be engineered for both form and function.  Solid hardwoods that are kiln dried are essential for permanence.

The highest quality cushions normally utilize high density foam rubber which is wrapped around a spring core.  Maximum comfort is achieved by surrounding the foam rubber with feathers or down.  The best materials on the inside allow the cushion and pillows to hold their shape despite constant use.

Tightly woven textiles are desired for longevity.
